About

Professional Background

I have a business background and currently provide CFO/Controller services to small to mid-size firms.  A current client is a startup grocery store with plans to open in North Lawndale to fulfill that under served community.  Other clients include firms in the Manufacturing, Market Research, and Non Profit sectors.  My most recent full time role was the CFO of QualSight, Inc. - a healthcare startup that ultimately developed a national footprint.  Prior to that I worked in consulting and began my career at a large institutional bank.  I graduated with a B.S. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University and obtained an MBA from Indiana University.

Tutoring Experience

My tutoring experience dates back to 1995 when I lived in Washington, DC and volunteered with adults seeking their GED.  I continued teaching Math and English to both adults and children by volunteering with the Chicago Cares organization.  I began tutoring professionally in the summer of 2014 and have worked with dozens of students to date.  My client list includes junior high, high school and college students from the British School of Chicago, Evanston Township High School, Latin School of Chicago, Loyola University, Northside College Prep, Walter Payton College Prep as well as students in the Daniel Murphy and the LINK Unlimited scholarship programs. References are available upon request.

Personal

I am an active person and enjoy regular exercise.  Upon arriving in Chicago I started participating in endurance sports and over a several year period I completed a handful of triathlons and a marathon. These days my primary form of exercise is yoga.  I also am an avid listener of fiction and non-fiction audiobooks and continue to enjoy learning.  Perhaps most enjoyably of all, I love spending time with my niece and nephew who live just a mile and a half away.
